For over 20 years Rhiwbina RFC have not partaken in any Boxing Day games.
This used to be a Christmas staple at all rugby clubs, but this inclusive tradition has been dying out.
This could be said of grass roots involvement across the board! The #For Hobbsie team decided to do something about this and turn the tide of participation.
In honour of the 1 year anniversary of the Death of our Club Legend David Hobbs, they organised a Boxing Day game, and family fun day at the club afterwards. The game was between Rhiwbina RFC and a Rhiwbina Select XV. Many of our old boys turned up to play, and a fantastically competitive and entertaining game was had.
The support levels were incredible, the whole of the home touchline was full, the coffee shop was flat out and a club raffle was doing the rounds.
Afterwards a shower and back to the club for homemade soup, beers and more raffle.
A perfect Hobbsie Day, he would have been so proud. More of the same please!
