What a way to blow the cobwebs away as the U13's enjoyed three very competitive games at the Aberdare Festival in glorious weather to start the season.
After a lengthy delay from registration the Squirrels won their two group games overcoming firstly Abercarn and then the home club in a very hard fought encounter that was decided by just a conversion after both teams scored a try. Special mention of Alfie and his hat-trick of tries as the team showed the benefit of the boot camp training sessions during the summer.
It was then onto the final against a Cwmbran team that were undefeated for 3 years who eventually proved to powerful for the Squirrels in a comfortable victory for them. Everyone stuck to their task with great spirit and determination with Jack and Luca tackling themselves to a standstill while Ethan showed real leadership qualities.
There will have been plenty of aching bodies after this Festival but well done to everyone for their application.
