Squirrels U14's start Cup campaign with dominant win

Blues Under 14s Cup

Old Penarthians - 0 - Rhiwbina U'14s - 41

Rhiwbina Under 14s eased their way through their opening group game with a thumping victory away in Penarth.

The opening score came after sustained pressure and multiple phases resulted in swift hands putting Ryan Clarke into the corner. This was followed swiftly with Theo Thomas crashing over as the Squirrels assumed forward superiority.  Ryan added a third with a scintillating sprint down the wing. Morgan Appleyard powered over from a scrum five before Jack Trotman added the final try as he smartly finished after the forwards again pummelled the hosts.

A half time score of 31-0 set up the promise of a similarly dominant second half.

The second half was a messy affair. Confusion reigned at the breakdown and the accuracy of the first half was missing. Despite this Rhiwbina added two more scores. Owen Carter benefitted from a deft Will Clarke offload to touch down and Lloyd Williams touched down in the corner to round off the scoring. For the record Owen Lloyd converted two tries and Iestyn one.

A final score of 41-0 was a fair reflection of the Squirrel dominance and sets them up nicely for the rest of the group stage.
