Squirrels do the double on Barry

Three second half tries again for the Squirrels

At half time the score was as gloomy as the evening at Llanishen 3G pitch for the Squirrels who found themselves down by 0-10.  They just couldn't get going against the elements and the visitors did everything they could get away with at the breakdown to deny the Squirrels quick ball. Kyle Barros kicked the Bombers in front with a tenth minute penalty and then converted a try to extend their lead at the break.

However, just like last week, it was a different story in the second half as the Squirrels took control.  The Bombers continued to frustrate the Squirrels at the breakdown as the ref chose to ignore their persistent infringements.  Rhiwbina fought back with a typical Josh Trewartha try converted by Gilbey, followed by another try from his backrow partner Chris Williams, also converted by Gilbey. Elliott Jones capped off a fine performance with an excellent try, running in from 50 metres. This followed a series of strong runs out of defence by James Griffiths, who again impressed at full-back. Barros kicked a late penalty for the Bombers to secure them a loosing bonus point.

Next game for the Squirrels is on Saturday 15th Feb when they travel to St Peter's.
