Rhiwbina U12's 14 v  15 Cambrian Welfare U12's

 

What a fabulous game that was, a real credit to both teams their coaches and supporters not forgetting the ref who kept a tight handle of matters as the visitors triumphed by the odd point in a game that could have gone either way right up to the final whistle. The Squirrels led at halftime 7-5 but the visitors pack who certainly where as large and powerful as anything the boys had faced this season would have been quietly confident after defending well while kicking up the slope. After some fine handling the Squirrels went further in front at the start of the second half which quickly saw a response from the visitors to leave the home team 4 points in front. Could the Squirrels hold out against the physicality of the visitors with everyone committing themselves with some tremendous tackling and hard work at the ruck? It was not to be with the visitors breaching the home line with 5 mins to go and despite the increasingly desperate Squirrels efforts it was the visitors who proved victorious and move on to the next round of the Cup while the home team enter the Plate. All the best to the visitors in the next round as they probably just about deserved their triumph but full marks to the home team for making a real fight of it. 

It was also nice to see the visiting players, coaches and supporters back at the Rec after the game as it should be, so another pat of the back to them for that.
