Squirrels 7 - 26 Rumney
Another lovely warm morning at Whitchurch Hospital saw Rumney emphatically triumph over a spirited Squirrels team as the visitors efficient but limited game plan was executed to perfection. The visitors with excellent game management of keeping the ball tight to the scrum/breakdown and using their powerful runners close to the gain line meant that the home team were starved of possession and whenever they did gain ball looked to be a little bit over expansive which just returned the ball to the visitors who made great use whenever they had the ball in their possession.
All in all, somewhat of a lesson for the home team in that you have to be able to adapt to a game situation especially when you are not able to impose your game plan on the match. Once again full marks to referee Ian who kept a tight handle on the game despite the vociferous refereeing from the sidelines which really does not help at all.
Best wishes for the speedy recovery to our winger Ellis Cannon who suffered a broken wrist and the Rumney player who suffered a nasty cut leg during the game. We look forward to the reverse fixture in April.
