Player Spotlight: Dafydd Williams “Daf”

This is Dafydd’s fourth season with Rhiwbina, and he is another of our fluent Welsh speakers – well, he speaks West Walian Welsh!

Daf has cemented his place at full back this season and is known for his dependency under the high ball and looking to attack from all parts of the field typifying the Rhiwbina approach to exciting rugby.

In his youth days he played for the Scarlets Under 18s then moved on to Whitland RFC and Llantrisant RFC, before seeing the light and joining Rhiwbina.

Daf enjoys travelling and playing away in warmer countries, especially to Mountain Ash for a mid-winter fixture.

His best rugby experience didn’t actually involve playing rugby at all! Daf particularly enjoyed the away WRU Plate match at Dolgellau, when we didn’t get to play due to a monsoon and very high tide, but he did get to know Dai Hobbs better on that momentous trip – which is probably why he remembers it so well!

His favourite film is Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction.
He loves a bit of funk and soul music and fancies himself as a bit of an ace cook.
He’s 26 years old and weighs 83kg – so the only way is up!
