First time Vs the English!

Our u9 squirrels were extremely excited to be welcoming Richmond RFC to Caedelyn, their very own version of Wales V England. Incredible rugby was played by both teams, amazing sportsmanship and as always plenty of support from the sideline! 4 matches in total - all lived up to the hype!

Chester started us off with our first try of the day something he is beginning to make a habit of, not that we are complaining, he went on to score a further 2 one of which was a show stopper. The second half Richmond came out in force the squirrels had some quick players to catch, but thanks to the coaches delivering some great training sessions there was no stopping these boys if they weren’t defending they were scoring! A complete team effort meant the team went into their next game with confidence... Seb still maintaining his stylish hair do!

The Squirrels hit the ground running in the next game - pure poetry in motion from the whole team with tries finished off by Jack, Aiden and Jack! Ewan was making tackles everywhere & it wasn’t long before the team delivered a try for Morgan to steamroller over the line. Archie then cut through the defensive line with a dazzling side steps & snake hips that his reminded his mum of her younger days out clubbing!! Euan finished the half with an equally executed half to bring the tally up to 7 unanswered tries!! The second half saw Richmond bounce back with 2 tries, and a second physically strong try from Will.

The squirrels started the following game on a high but as they scored Richmond responded with a try of their own. Joel spent most of his time on the ground going from one tackle to the next managing to make 3 try’s in between. Evan R had a fire in his belly this week, his confidence shining throughout the matches. Going into the second half a few scores ahead it was clear for all to see that the squirrels are a close knit team, their communication and togetherness was something to be admired and nothing could show that more than Andre who Having already scored 4 flawless try’s and with no threat from Richmond selflessly passed the ball to team mate Logan who had run with and supported him, Logan converted his 2nd try of the day and Andre later went on to score his 5th!

In the final game Richmond and the Squirrels traded tries in the opening half. Arun scored twice against a Richmond defence that pulled out try-saving-tackle after tackle. Archie added the his try tally & special mention goes to Aiden who led from the front in everything he did for the team & encouragement he gave his team mates - a real leader in the making!

Special shout out to Evan S who despite not being able to play due to injury was on the sideline showing his support!

Week on week these boys pull out all the stops and give pure dedication, this week was no different! For all the mums that came out to watch their boys on Mother’s Day, this team certainly made it a day to remember, with the smiles on their faces and the bond between them getting stronger and stronger each week, it’s an absolute pleasure to watch them!
