The Under 12's travelled to Fairwater for the latest Blues Cup Group game expecting a tough encounter and despite the score line this proved to be the case with the team turning in one of their best performances for a while. With the forwards running powerful and competing at the breakdown the backs were able to show their skills in what was a total team performance that had the coaches purring with pleasure!! When you see the coaching team nothing can be further from the truth, anyone believing they could be purring. It was really pleasing that all the hard work in training seems to be being understood and more importantly is being actioned on the field. This was no more illustrated than in the second half when the Squirrels had conceded a number of penalties from well inside the Fairwater half, then had to defend deep on their line for a number of phases before breaking out to score a try using some timely passes and direct running.
All is now set up for the final Group game when the Squirrels entertain Cambrian Welfare on Sunday February 3rd which is in fact a winner take all encounter as to see who qualifies for the main competition or the Plate.
Congratulations to all concerned it was a great morning to be a Squirrel.
